8 Mistakes the Airbnb Hosts and Holiday Rental Owners Make and How to Avoid Them!

Here are the top 8 mistakes that Airbnb hosts or holiday rental owners make and how to fix them.

  1. Host or holiday owners don't provide basic cookware to prepare meals, leaving guests to dine out more than they would like, which is expensive, maybe inconvenient and is often not as healthy as homemade meals.
  2. In addition to basic cookware, hosts and holiday rental owner can improve convenience to guests by providing spices and oils in the pantry, a few common spices, such as a bottle of herbs, cinnamon, paprika, cumin, salt, pepper, and olive oil can make all the difference
  3. Good pillows can make any holiday house a home and will always garner a better review, it's a small thing that can elevate any holiday rental experience
  4. Obviously providing linen is a plus but hosts and owners should invest in a high-quality mattress and bed set and provide extra sheets, blankets, and towels
  5. Stock your holiday homes with good quality coffee and a decent coffee maker
  6. If holiday rental owners and Airbnb hosts require guests to help clean the house before they check-out, then they should provide the necessary tools and cleaners to do so, don't forget garbage bags, dishwashing liquid, cleaning cloths, brooms etc. Some small jobs like taking out the garbage or doing the dishes may be considered acceptable but if guests are paying a (not insubstantial) cleaning fee then it is probably unacceptable to ask them to do more cleaning than that - or scrap the cleaning fee.
  7. While it is not always easy in more remote areas, if possible improve the guest experience by offering fast, free Wi-Fi otherwise you will lose points on many guests
  8. Airbnb hosts and holiday rental owners should always provide clear instructions, and make sure they communicate clearly what is expected of guests. For example, how to find the entrance or get access, to details on how to check in, and rules about the home, these are important details, which if not clear will make the entire stay stressful for guests
