A Bus Called Kermit - Glenlyon Dam, Queensland

A Bus Named Kermit is a beautifully converted 1978 Layland Leopard single-decker bus, which is strategically parked on the edge of Glenlyon Dam in Silverspur, Queensland just near the border of New South Wales and is now available on Search and Stay.

Stopped in a peaceful place with abundant wildlife on the dam and two resident emus often seen wandering around the edge of Glenlyon Dam, which was once a part of the Historic Glenlyon Station.

The Dam split the property in 1974 and the farm that houses a bus named Kermit is named Tilba Tilba, a place of many waters. The farm is now a rare breeds farm with seven breeds of sheep plus milking goats, alpacas, pigs, Shorthorn cattle and poultry.

The bus itself, Kermit, sleeps 3 people, so grab the family and book your weekend away now on Search and Stay. Kermit has the most comfortable Queen Bed with views straight onto the water and a separate single bed.

A large kitchen will keep the cook happy or cook outside on the campfire.

A hot water shower has gas hot water and a septic toilet is located in buildings around 20m from Kermit the Bus.

If the peace and quiet are too much and you need something to keep you entertained on the farm, there is direct frontage to the Glenlyon Dam, and when the dam is over 50% full you can launch a boat from the boat ramp, go fishing (permit required) and explore Glenlyon Dam. For fisherman, this is the perfect place to book your fishing trip on Search and Stay.

At Low tide go exploring the creek bed, which may reveal some deer antlers and snagged fishing lures. Bush walking, bird spotting, looking for Deer, Echidna and Emus. Goannas and Cunningham Skink Lizards can be found living on the farm.

At night sit around the Campfire/ Firepit down near the creek and watch the stars and roast your marshmallows. Or Spotlight and photograph the wildlife, possums, brushtail wallabies, wallaroos and owls and the other nocturnal animals.

For the Fossicker, there is a seam of Conglomerate rock containing ancient fossils. In the paddock closest to the Glenlyon woolshed. Red jasper can be found in the creek bed at low tide.

Picnics at the creek/dam or on the hill are perfect for watching a glorious sunset. Search the paddocks for horseshoes and check out the amazing Horse Shoe sculpture made entirely from horseshoes found on the property.

Farm tours are free of charge and available depending on my the farmers' commitments and on weekends you may be able to learn to milk the goat – depending on the time of year. Feeding the sheep and sometimes feeding orphan lambs and collect eggs for your own breakfast. Book a few nights on Search and Stay, for the perfect farm stay experience for any family.

Fishing is by permit only as Glenlyon Dam is a stocked Dam, where you can catch Murray Cod, Silver Perch, Catfish and Yellow Belly and before you leave grab the veggies and eggs for sale fresh from the farm.
