A Victorian-era architectural wonder in the heart of Melbourne has reopened its doors for the first time in 100 years!
As the first Australian building to be awarded a UNESCO World Heritage Listing, the Royal Exhibition Building has great historical and cultural importance, not only to Melbourne, but to all of Australia.
Built in 1880 for the Melbourne International Exhibition, the Dome Promenade was a key attraction providing visitors with the opportunity to overlook the landscaped gardens and view the emerging Melbourne skyline.
Accompanying the Dome Promenade experience is an exhibition that explores the site’s significant events and varied uses of the building over time. Visitors will be able to learn more about the history of this extraordinary building before making their way up to the Dome Promenade to experience views over Carlton Gardens, the city skyline, and the metropolitan horizon; not seen by the public for 100 years.
